- Continuing my love affair with the epic ‘Back to the Future’ movies, I am so excited to reveal my latest instalment, ‘Great Scott!’ available in a cracking range of formats.
To coincide with an event where I was lucky enough to rock up to an earlier artist appearance in a bloody Delorean, this brand-new image has been created to have a similar composition as my 2025 ‘Star Wars’ ‘Among the Clouds’ piece that had the composition that mimicked a dramatic movie poster.
Expanding on this I went one step further this year and created a Hollywood billboard edition that has the effect of an aged poster that is then hand-embellished and floated within a dramatic custom frame, it works beautifully! I didn’t stop there though! The scene has then also been brought to life through a stunning 3-way flip lenticular edition that, along with its hand painted frame looks ridiculous!
There is such a wealth of references to draw from across the three films that always allow for intense and engaging scenes that are created for you to seek out the details. There would have to be a strong reason not to feature the Delorean, just look at it, from every angle it just screams nostalgia and awesomeness! For ‘Great Scott’ to work in a portrait format, it would need to involve two key areas of interest with each having a lot going on, that worked in isolation as well as one.
I have always loved the iconic line from the movie, "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads" and have built everything around this. A dramatic road cuts through the desert as a storm sweeps in towards the time machine that is parked up in spectacular fashion, with doors open that resemble a bird set to take flight. I absolutely love how this section has played out, the colours, the drama, the subtle random chicken fleeing from the approaching Coyote, whilst the parked vehicles further build on the links to my celebrated ‘Petrolheads’ image.
The thunderclouds above then allow for the key characters from the movie to be featured, naturally Marty and Doc take the lead focus, but everyone plays their part, even the ‘Clock tower lady’! I am so pleased with how the lightning detail has worked out, whilst the very top section that features planet Vulcan and the flying train really add to the drama of the scene. You know I obsess over my use of colour within my art, and this piece has such a bold palette, it looks insane in all formats!
I absolutely love what I do, to earn a living by reliving my childhood memories and reconnecting so many people with theirs is just brilliant, I am incredibly lucky and privileged to have such a cracking and loyal set of collectors that keep me so busy and inspired. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!.I hope you are as excited with this new piece as I am, it is unique for sure! OUTAIDEAS? No chance! Your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has.
Your future is whatever you make it. So, make it a good one.
